Stone properties and slate matching
Huddersfield has stone-built homes around Lindley, Almondbury and Marsh. Some older properties retain Yorkshire stone slate coverings. Repair decisions need to account for the existing material and how a replacement piece will sit within it.
We source reclaimed stone slates where possible and discuss alternatives where a close match cannot be found. Let Adam know about previous replacements or surveys, especially if the roof has different materials on different slopes. A photograph from the ground can help describe that arrangement safely.
Exposed slopes and the roof details
Homes around the Colne and Holme valleys can have exposed roofs and hillside access. Rather than assuming the whole roof needs replacing, the assessment considers the observed condition of the covering, ridge and junctions. Mention wind-driven leaks or damage noticed after weather changes.
Lead flashing around chimneys and adjoining walls is relevant when water appears near a roof opening. Weathered mortar and displaced roofing pieces may need different repairs. Describe what you have seen without trying to access the roof; a close inspection needs suitable equipment and conditions.
Plan access before agreeing a project
A hillside home or a terrace with limited rear space may need a carefully planned scaffold arrangement. Let us know about narrow approaches, lower roofs and shared routes. The written quotation should explain the access equipment needed for your particular property.
For a re-roof, deliveries, waste removal and loft access also need discussion. We work with slate, tile and flat roofing systems, with insulation and ventilation considered as part of the proposed scope. Read the new roofs guide to prepare questions about the structure and build-up.
Lower roofs and drainage
Extensions, garages and dormers can have a separate roof covering from the main house. We repair and install GRP, EPDM and felt systems, checking the base, outlets and perimeter details. A leak may originate at an edge or wall connection rather than across the whole surface.
If gutters, fascias or chimney details are also affected, mention them in the enquiry. Connected defects are easier to understand when the whole arrangement is described. Our gallery shows leadwork and roof window details. Use the photographs to help explain the part of your roof you want assessed.
Huddersfield and the surrounding places
Our Huddersfield coverage includes the town centre, Lindley, Birchencliffe, Almondbury, Fenay Bridge, Marsh, Edgerton, Fartown, Sheepridge, Holmfirth, Honley, Brockholes, Meltham, Kirkburton, Shelley, Slaithwaite and Marsden. Give Adam the actual postcode to confirm coverage and a suitable visit.
Roofing assessments and quotes for proposed repair work are free and carry no obligation. Independent roof reports have a separately discussed scope and fee. If your roof is leaking now or material is loose, call first to explain the concern and ask about availability. Out-of-hours emergency callouts carry a callout fee.
